The 34th International Conference on ICT Systems Security and Privacy Protection (IFIP SEC 2019) selected the “ESARA: A Framework for Enterprise Smartphone Apps Risk Assessment” paper by Majid Hatamian, Dr. Sebastian Pape, and Prof. Dr. Kai Rannenberg for the Best Paper Award. The paper proposes a novel framework to support and enable enterprises to analyze and quantify the potential privacy and security risks associated with their employees’ installed apps. Given an app, the ESARA framework conducts various analyses to characterize its vulnerabilities. Afterward, it examines the app’s behavior and overall privacy and security perceptions associated with it by applying natural language processing and machine learning techniques.

This year, IFIP SEC 2019 had an acceptance rate of 18% (26 accepted papers out of 146 submitted papers).
