Curriculum Vitae

Mafi Islam is a researcher at Goethe University Frankfurt. The current research focuses on the intersection of media, communication, journalism, and technology. It investigates how people interact with digital platforms and the broader political consequences of these technologies.

Mafi Islam holds a Master of Science in Media, Technology and Society from Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences. A Master of Science in Media and Communication Studies, with a major in Political Communication, was completed at the University of Gothenburg in Sweden. Additionally, educational qualifications include a Bachelor's and a Master's of Arts in English Literature.

Before entering academia, Mafi Islam worked as a journalist for six years. The professional reporting covered information and communications technology (ICT), telecommunications, and technology. This practical background also includes experience in network security consulting, which informs current academic work on data privacy and cybersecurity.
